Job 14:10

But a man dies and fades away; he breathes his last-where is he?

Job 14:13

If only You would hide me in Sheol and conceal me until Your anger passes.
If only You would appoint a time for me and then remember me.

Job 14:14 & 15

When a man dies, will he come back to life? If so, I would wait all the days
of my struggle until my relief comes. You would call, and I would answer You.

You would long for the work of Your hands.

Job 17:13

If I await Sheol as my home, spread out my bed in darkness,

Job 19:25-27

But I know my living Redeemer, and He will stand on the dust at last.

Even after my skin has been destroyed, yet I will see God in my flesh.

I will see Him myself; my eyes will look at Him, and not as a stranger.
My heart longs within me.

How much do the dead know?

Ecclesiastes 9:5 & 6

For the living know that they will die, but the dead don’t know anything.
There is no longer a reward for them because the memory of them is forgotten.
Their love, their hate, and their envy have already disappeared, and there is
no longer a portion for them in all that is done under the sun.

Psalm 6:5

For there is no remembrance of You in death; who can thank You in Sheol?

Psalm 146:3 & 4

Do not trust in nobles, in man, who cannot save. When his breath leaves him,
he returns to the ground; on that day his plans die.

None Goes to His Reward at Death

1 Kings 2:1 & 2

As the time approached for David to die, he instructed his son Solomon,
As for me, I am going the way of all of the earth. Be strong and be courageous like a man.

Acts 2:29-34
Brothers, I can confidently speak to you about the patriarch David:

He is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

Since he was a prophet, he knew that God had sworn an oath to him
to seat one of his descendants on his throne.

Seeing this in advance, he spoke concerning the resurrection of the Messiah:
He was not left in Hades, and His flesh did not experience decay.

God has resurrected this Jesus. We are all witnesses of this.

Therefore, since He has been exalted to the right hand of God and has received
from the Father the promised Holy Spirit, He has poured out what you
both see and hear.

For it was not David who ascended into the heavens, but he himself says:
The Lord declared to my Lord, ‘Sit at My right hand’

Revelation 22:12

Look! I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me to repay each person
according to what he has done.

Can Dead People Haunt Houses?

Job 7:9 & 10

As a cloud fades away and vanishes, so the one who goes down to Sheol
will never rise again. He will never return to his house;
his hometown will no longer remember him.

It is plain from Scripture that when we die we sleep in the grave.

What a beautiful teaching this is. We lie in the grave, at peace,
free from the worries and cares of this world. We sleep there until Jesus
calls us to our reward on the last day.
