1 Thessalonians 5:15 See to it that no one repays evil for evil to anyone, but always pursue what is good for one another and for all. Evil is like a chain reaction, each time we commit an act of evil or payback, it adds another link to the chain. This in turn perpetuates and strengthens it.
But each time we do the right thing and perform an act of love and kindness toward our fellow man, the chain is broken. A simple act, such as not repeating a rumour or gossip can do it.
Remember: Getting even is not God's way.
The way to defeat evil is by love, God's love. There is no other way. Our mission is to spread love, the antidote for evil.
Remember: The love that Jesus has given us is the most powerful weapon on earth.
Evil can never survive in an atmosphere of love. This is why Jesus instructs us to love our fellow man as ourselves.
For the entire law is fulfilled in one statement: Love your neighbor as yourself.
Remember: Hate sin, but love the sinner.
We sometimes just don't realise that by repaying evil with evil, we are playing straight into Satan's hands, and helping him destroy souls. The Apostle Paul has given us some very wise advice in Romans 12:17-21
Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Try to do what is honorable in everyone’s eyes.
If possible, on your part, live at peace with everyone.
Friends, do not avenge yourselves; instead, leave room for His wrath. For it is written: Vengeance belongs to Me; I will repay, says the Lord. But; If your enemy is hungry, feed him.
If he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
For in so doing you will be heaping fiery coals on his head.
Do not be conquered by evil, but conquer evil with good. God will take care of it! What a burden has been lifted off our shoulders. The stress that has been removed from our lives, by those words of Paul.
Trust God. Believe God, He will make sure that everyone who deserves punishment for evil deeds will receive it.
It may seem at the present time that those who have wronged you are getting away with it.
