If you were to die tonight, could you be sure you have eternal life?
If God asked you, why He should let you into heaven, what would you say?
Let’s look at some answers to these questions.
There are definite reasons why God lets us into heaven.
In the Bible we find the Gospel. Gospel means “Good News.”
I want to share with you the best news anyone has ever been told.
The “Good News” is simply that eternal life is a free gift given to us by God through His grace. It is utterly and totally free.
It is free because we are all sinners - God knows we can’t help that we were born this way.
He also knows that there is nothing we can do by ourselves to earn our own salvation.
Romans 3:10 As it is written, there is no one righteous, not even one.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
God tells us that “all have sinned". There are no exceptions among humans.
We all have broken God’s Law - His 10 Commandments.
God is a kind, loving, merciful and just God. He measures justice by His law.
When we break any law, God’s or man’s; it demands a penalty.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The penalty for breaking God’s law is death.
Because all of us have broken God’s law, it means we have a death decree on our heads.
We are under the penalty of death from birth.
You might say, “could I pay that penalty?” Yes, you could die. The Bible talks about this death.
Revelation 20:14 & 15 Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And anyone not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
Eternal life is replaced with eternal death. Total separation from God for all eternity. You are gone. It is as though you never existed.
Matthew 27:46 About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Elí, Elí, lemá sabachtháni?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
Matthew 27:50 Jesus shouted again with a loud voice and gave up His spirit.
Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is the one who shares in the first resurrection! The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of the Messiah, and they will reign with Him for 1,000 years.
Those in the first resurrection ( Jesus’ second coming), the second death has no power over them.
Jesus said I will come down to earth and pay the penalty for you. I will die in your place.
Jesus died for every person. He has already done it for you!!
He offers it to you for free. All you have to do is to accept it.
Every sin we have ever committed from the day we were born until we accept Jesus is paid for. Wiped out. We start with a clean slate. We are justified, made right with God.
Is that Good News, or is that Good News !!!!
Romans 5:8-10 But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!
Much more then, since we have now been declared righteous by His blood, we will be saved through Him from wrath.
For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, then how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by His life!
Remember, Jesus has already died. He has already paid our penalty. It is done. But, it does not come into effect until we accept the gift.
Micah 7:18 & 19 Who is a God like You, removing iniquity and passing over rebellionfor the remnant of His inheritance? He does not hold on to His anger forever, because He delights in faithful love.
He will again have compassion on us; he will vanquish our iniquities. You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea.
Our past sins are forgotten. They will not come up against us in the Judgment.
Will we sin after we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Saviour? Yes we will.
God has that emergency covered.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 2:1-6 My little children, I am writing you these things so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father - Jesus Christ the Righteous One.
He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world. This is how we are sure that we have come to know Him: by keeping His commands.
The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” yet doesn't keep His commands, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
But whoever keeps His word, truly in him the love of God is perfected. This is how we know we are in Him:
The one who says he remains in Him should walk just as He walked.
Romans 10:13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. <\l >
Prayer of Commitment
Dear Jesus I call upon your name this day for my salvation.
I thank you for listening to me and accepting me into the family of God.
I thank you for dying for me and taking my place.
I ask you to please forgive me of all my sins.
I accept you dear Jesus as my Lord and Saviour,
And I commit my life and all I have to you from this moment.
Thank you Jesus for your gift of eternal life.
Now that you have prayed this prayer believing with all your heart, I believe you have been born again.
Welcome to God’s family.
Once we have accepted God’s free gift of eternal life through Jesus, we need to put our faith into action.
First: Read your Bible and pray to God continually. A relationship with God is like any other, we need to spend time on it, to develop it, to draw closer to Him every day.
Second: As your faith and relationship with God grows you will want to do the things Jesus did.
The good works you do will grow out of your faith and love for Jesus. Read about the things Jesus will consider as good works by His disciples in Matthew 25:31-46.
The following are some texts to help you in your daily walk with God:
John 6:37-40 Everyone the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never cast out.
For I have come down from heaven, not to do My will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
This is the will of Him who sent Me: that I should lose none of those He has given Me but should raise them up on the last day.
For this is the will of My Father: that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
John 6:44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him, and I will raise him up on the last day.
John 1:12 But to all who did receive Him, He gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in His name.
Romans 8:38 & 39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.
